Pierre Charrié
Eyes on Talents member, Pierre Charrié, is the first designer to be welcomed for a residency at the Atelier des Marbres, selected by a jury chaired by designer Patrick Jouin. This summer, from June to July, the designer spent time in Ilhet, in the Pyrénées, to develop the Pèira d'Aura project, centered around Opera Fantastico marble, receiving technical and regional support. Pèira d'Aura is based on a cross-disciplinary exploration of the natural resources of the Aure Valley, where the municipality of Ilhet is located. On this occasion, Pierre Charrié designed and created four pieces combining the Opera Fantastico marble with other local resources. Like the creation of a bench combining marble elements and a fir tree carried away by the floods that hit the valley the previous year. Stripped of its bark and worked by cabinetmaker Kim Heitz, the log became a bench for the screening room at the Atelier des Marbres. Another piece is a set of stools with marble legs and hand-felted wool seats, made by Laurent Valera using the same techniques as for Pyrenean berets, then upholstered by Studio MOVAT. A first design residency at the Atelier des Marbres, marked by an immersion in materials, territory and design.
