Marine Lanier
Eyes on Talents member, photographer Marine Lanier, winner of this year’s Prix Maison Ruinart, is exhibiting her Alchimia series for the first time at Paris Photo, from November 13 to 16, at the Grand Palais. Alchimia tells the story of her summer residency in Champagne, a region that was unknown to her. Through people, landscapes, archive images and studio shots, Marine Lanier transports us in a world of magical realism and documentary fable. In shades of gold, black and white, she plays with light, symbols and monochrome. In the Emergence sector of the fair, with the Espace Jörg Brockmann, Marine Lanier is also presenting images from her series Le Jardin d’Hannibal. The work focuses on the Jardin du Lautaret, the highest altitude garden in Europe. In a phantasmagorical vision, she takes us on among scientists, botanists and gardeners, within what can be seen as a bastion of resistance in our contemporary world faced with climate change.
A resident at Casa de Velázquez in Madrid last year and a member of the Tendance Floue collective, Marine Lanier develops a sensory and immersive approach, exploring shadowed and mysterious places.
