Inspired by the quote “Man is born free, and yet everywhere he is in chains” by Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
The work explores women’s sexual emancipation through the use of the metaphor of chains as both a literal and decorative element. The silhouettes are inspired by the power dressing of the 1980s and
1990s. Theoretically, the work on women’s sexual self-determination is underpinned by the work of psychologist Dr Sandra Konrad.
