My collection is rooted in three forms of isolation: self-isolation, the construction of a shield against social impact and societal systems, and dissociation. It draws parallels between physical and psychological isolation. The isolation of our muscles through bodybuilding—where targeted exercises y
ield the most visible, idealized physique. The isolation of excess materials in our consumer goods—product wrappers designed to attract purchase, yet not valued enough to be kept. We are left with waste, not worth keeping. Hence, “Post-Isolation.”
My task in this project becomes: How can I collage these themes into a coherent whole? What emerges from this endless process of layering and combining? The result is a research-driven development of each element in my collection—fusing sketches, references, textiles, and prints into something new, something that responds to my central question.
