Atelier YokYok
Eyes on Talents member, Atelier YokYok’s temporary social installation The Treedom was featured by The Best/New Architects. The town of Alberobello, in the Puglia region of southern Italy, invited YokYok to install The Treedom for the Light Festival 2023. YokYok created a temporary geometric forest offering a place of gathering using a simple, economical, local and reusable contruction process. Designed for a public square, it was adapted to the slope and pavement using local stones. This mineral addition creates a link with local architectural history, recalling the UNESCO-listed Trullo architecture of Alberobello. With its labyrinthine and accessible design, The Treedom combines heritage, nature and public engagement.
YokYok is a creative workshop and ideas factory founded and directed since 2015 by Samson Lacoste and Luc Pinsard, architects. It now has four partners including Laure Qaremy, a teacher, and Pauline Lazareff, an engineer-architect. Through their site-specific installations, YokYok creates places of discovery and encounter that offer an emotional and immersive experience.
