All around us the world has been wrapped in text that we rarely acknowledge. Symbols are only understood as signs in the event that someone engages with them. "Asemic Text" is a project about the times which we do not recognize symbols as having meaning. Signifiers that attempt to capture our attenti
on but fail to do so. For this project I collected photos of signs from across the world to reference. The photos became the basis for the prints in this project. The fabric was treated through a process of hydrographic printing which is how the distortion of the graphics was achieved. My portfolio for this project features the prints and graphics more heavily than the final garment as this project was primarily focused on the experimental printmaking process.
