“Don’t melt me down dear”, were the words my grandmother used as a joke to prevent me opening and closing the refrigerator door, and form the starting point for the theme of ‘Fridge: Grandpa’s Weird Storage’.
My grandmother told me that if I kept opening and closing the refrigerator door, the grandf
ather living inside the refrigerator would scold me, and I was afraid of being scolded by the grandfather, so I never dared to open the door again.
I imagined the lifestyle of the ‘grandfather of the refrigerator’ in my memory and the emotions he felt. In order to survive alone in the cold refrigerator, he would have collected clothes outside the refrigerator and endured the cold alone. I expressed the grandfather's feelings and the process of the clothes freezing and melting with silhouettes and textures.
