BA PROJECT
LET THEM EAT CAKE draws on gastronomy to reimagine historical banquets as a five-course menu of silhouettes. Each course references a dinner that, in its time, functioned as a performative display of power. The project incorporates self-made biomaterials and explores the tension between e
xclusivity and inclusivity.
I was intrigued by today’s cultural fascination with food and noticed how it has become a powerful medium for expressing identity—perhaps even more so than fashion.
The project is both humorous and critical, reflecting on the power that both fashion and gastronomy wield in our society.
