“Nule Altro Somiglia” is a collection inspired by the unique and haunting spirit of Bomarzo a place that resembles itself and nothing else.
It explores both the garden built by Vicino Orsini, Duke of Bomarzo, and the novel Bomarzo by Manuel Mujica Lainez, which reimagines his life through fiction.
The collection naturally divided into two parts. One follows the life of Pier Francesco Orsini his youth in Florence, his military family, his unreachable love for Julia Farnese, and the creation of the Sacro Bosco. The other gives form to the garden’s mythic beings nymphs, sirens, and goddesses brought to life.
Through fabric manipulations and surface work, I aimed to express the textures of decay and stone, and the dreamlike quality of Orsini’s story. The palette is rooted in the nature of the park and the opulence of the Renaissance.
To me, Bomarzo is about the triumph of beauty even in the face of suffering. What drew me in was its decay: the way time has made it unknowable, transformed it into something poetic and strange. Its mystery is inseparable from what has been lost.
This collection is my attempt to respond to that mystery to capture the feeling of a place that, once it finds you, never lets go.
