Karla Hiraldo Voleau

Eyes on Talents member, Karla Hiraldo Voleau’s work is on view in the heart of Turin as part of the EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival 2026, until 2nd June. In an outdoor exhibition, the French-Dominican artist is showcasing You Can Have It All, a deeply autobiographical and process-driven project, that takes shape from two moments in the artist’s life separated by five years. In 2019, whilst in self-isolation in Greece, Voleau began a daily practice of self-portraiture, using photography as a means of exploring her relationship with her body, perception and self-image. In 2024, whilst rereading a letter she had written to herself years earlier, the artist revisits that experience, reworking it and creating a space for reflection from which transformations, disillusionments and new possibilities for self-interpretation emerge. Performative actions and rituals, such as climbing a mountain and burning a love letters, frame the body as a space of resistance, boundary and transformation. Photography becomes an active medium capable of reigniting perception, memory and identity, capturing the complexity of a personal journey that opens up to a universal dimension.
