Elsa & Johanna
Eyes on Talents member, Elsa & Johanna, present Lost and Found at the Centre Photographique Marseille, an original creation conceived by the artistic duo as a journey through more than ten years of collaboration. Through a selection of works from different series, the exhibition weaves a narrative thread where the photographs respond to each other and reveal the themes of their work: identity and transformation games, gender construction, strangeness of everyday life, poetry of domestic and natural spaces, blurring between the real and the imaginary, influence of cinematic language. Staging is at the heart of their approach, with the use of autofiction allowing them to portray characters freed from their own identity. For Lost and Found, Elsa & Johanna staged the exhibition space to create a retro-futuristic scenography, immersing the viewer in an extension of their visual universe.
Elsa Parra and Johanna Benaïnous have formed the artist duo Elsa & Johanna since 2014. Working at the intersection of photography, performance and video, they construct visual narratives in which they stage themselves, embodying a multitude of characters.
