Jean-Vincent Simonet
Eyes on Talents member, Jean-Vincent Simonet, is presenting his work until 10 May in 1000 milliards d’images, the Reiffers Art Initiatives Prize exhibition in Paris. Faced with the endless deluge of images that flood our daily lives, the five emerging artists on show use the image as their raw material for experimenting with new forms and imagining alternative types of narratives. Jean-Vincent Simonet developed a practice that fuses traditional photographic techniques with experimental printmaking processes. Hand-painted by the artist or created by artificial intelligence, his photographs blur the lines of their origin. With him, the image regains its plasticity and seems to seek a renewed aura, reconciled with the 21st century. In an interview with Numéro, the visual artist talks about the work presented in the exhibition. Using digital photographs of machines used in the printing industry, a sector from which his family comes, and with the ink still wet from the printer, Jean-Vincent Simonet physically stretches the notions of the real and the digital.
