Roxane Lahidji

Eyes on Talents member, Roxane Lahidji, studied illustration and product design at the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg and continued her studies at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. In 2017 she graduated in social design and founded her studio. Her creations feature underestimated or inexpensive materials that she brings back to life while reworking ancestral or even endangered production techniques. With her project "Marbled Salts" Roxane Lahidji explores new possibilities, reinventing salt as a sustainable design material. She makes use of its unique physical properties as a self-binding composite. By mixing it with tree resin, she gives it shape and strength. Coal powder and natural colour variations in salt mimic the aesthetics of expensive natural stone such as marble.
